The Current List

Glenda McNaught commenced employment as a barristers' secretary in 1974, giving her an excellent understanding of the professional needs of barristers and solicitors. The List was established with a group of 33 counsel in 1991, under the sponsorship of the late Ron Castan, AM, QC and John Middleton, QC by whom Glenda was employed for many years. That group has grown to 78, including 24 Senior Counsel. Whilst the List is dominated by those practising in all areas of commercial law, a review of this directory will reveal that the List offers a variety of Counsel who practice across a wide range of areas.

Over recent years, the List has seen many changes, including the appointment of four of its members to the Federal Court, one to the Court of Appeal and two to the County Court.

Whilst recognising the importance of growth, at the time of its establishment the List adopted a policy of maintaining a relatively small List, so as to ensure the availability of Counsel of excellence and an emphasis on personal, friendly and efficient service. All members of staff take great pride in providing the highest level of service possible to all members of the profession.
